Simple Ingredients

This is an incredibly easy recipe for chocolate brownies, you will not miss the store bought cake mix, I promise. This homemade recipe will taste better and honestly takes no more time than a purchased box mix to pull together.

The strawberry brownie batter is essentially a basic brownie with berries tossed in. The ingredients are exactly what you would expect: melted butter, sugar, egg, flour, cocoa powder, everything you likely already have in the pantry.

The results are a perfect fudgy texture with lots of strawberry flavor perfect for highlighting homegrown or local strawberries from your berry picking adventures.

Some Optional Changes

Like nuts in your brownies? Add up 1/2 cup of chopped nuts for extra texture and crunch.

Use white chocolate chips instead of regular chocolate chips for a lovely color and flavor contrast.

Chop your favorite chocolate bar into small pieces and use it instead of chocolate chips

Skip the chocolate chips all together, if desired or if you don’t have any on hand to avoid running to the grocery store.

Make the brownies even more decadent by adding some frosting or other topping. Consider pouring some silky chocolate ganache over the top of the brownies and refrigerating until set.

Drizzle melted chocolate over the cooled brownies prior to serving.

Use a strawberry frosting or strawberry glaze to make the sweet treat even richer.

How to Serve

Because these are very much chocolate covered strawberry brownies a bit of powdered sugar can make for a lovely presentation but they don’t need much.

Keep it simple and serve the brownies with milk or other favorite beverage.

Top the pieces with a bit of whipped cream and some chopped strawberries for a wonderful and different take on the classic strawberry shortcake.

Cut pieces small and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle with some strawberry jam, perfect for serving on special occasions.

How to Store

There is a lot of moisture from the fresh berries in these delicious treats, it is for that reason that I don’t recommend storing them at room temperature.

Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge where the brownies should stay fresh for about 4 days.

For longer term storage, wrap them tightly in plastic wrap or other freezer container and freeze.

Thaw frozen brownies in the fridge prior to serving.

Use up frozen brownies withing 6 months for best flavor.
